Mediation

It is remarkable what can be achieved by mediation; simply having an impartial person to listen to both sides of the issue. One of the most important benefits of mediation is that it allows people to resolve the issue in a non-confrontational way.

The value of mediation is that it helps to avoid huge legal fees as it does not require legal representation. Lawsuits can polarize and damage working or personal relationships, so an enormous benefit of mediation is the resolution of conflict without destroying these relationships. Mediation is particularly valuable when a dispute involves another person with whom it is important to retain an effective relationship either in workplace or personal situations.

Mediation combats aggressive behaviours and enhances employees’ contributions to organisational performance.

Any agreement reached through mediation is more likely to be followed rather than an ‘order’ by a judge at a tribunal hearing; it alleviates stress as a result of the conflict which can lead to loss of self-esteem in either or both parties involved.
